The MOU further specifies that CI Financial and Schulich will plan and hold two panel discussions each year with the subject of “Investing in the Future,” one in the fall semester and one in the winter.

The first panel discussion that the two will host together, “Leading Change in the Financial Services Industry,” will take place at Schulich on November 17th, 5:00 p.m., with a live forum at Schulich’s McEwen Auditorium. Senior management and human resources representatives from CI Financial will also be present.

The event will include a panel discussion on the state of wealth and asset management as well as the financial sector’s digital revolution.

The panel, to be moderated by Pauline Shum Nolan, professor of Finance and Finance Area Co-ordinator at Schulich at Schulich, will include:

  • Kambiz Vatan-Abadi, president & UDP, CI Direct Investing;
  • Darie Urbanky, president & chief operating officer, CI Financial;
  • Christopher Enright, executive vice-president & co-head Wealth, Canada, CI Financial;
  • Lisa Day, data scientist, IT Data, Analytics & Reporting, CI Financial; and
  • Martin Cheung, vice-president, Digital Transformation & Automation, Information Technology, CI Financial.

“CI Financial began its digital transformation almost four years ago and we’ve always understood that it’s a journey of continuous improvement and learning,” said Darie Urbanky, president and chief operating officer of CI Financial. “That’s why we believe it’s important to work with Schulich to support the education and experience of the next generation of business and financial professionals, who will play key roles in the ongoing growth and development of our industry.”
