a bowl of gnocchi, Italian seasoning, garlic salt, and olive oil on a marbled board.
  • Gnocchi – I used a shelf-stable here, but fresh or frozen would also work. If using frozen, you don’t even need to defrost them first. Hollah!
  • Italian seasoning – if you don’t have any, use a mix of dried parsley, basil, and oregano.
  • Garlic salt – this is one of my favorite daily-use seasonings, but if you don’t have any, try garlic powder with a pinch of kosher salt.

Here’s How to Make It

*I’ll walk you through it here with some photos and tips, and you’ll also find a printable recipe card at the bottom of the post with exact measurements, etc. You can click “jump to recipe” to skip down.

This is one of the few recipes where I recommend you preheat the air fryer, so go ahead and do that now. Preheat that bad boy to 390˚F for 3 minutes.

Grab a medium-size mixing bowl and combine gnocchi, olive oil, Italian seasoning, and garlic salt. If you’re using shelf-stable gnocchi, they have a tendency to stick together. Do your best to separate them before putting them in the air fryer.

uncooked potato pasta in a glass bowl.

Cook those gorgeous gnocchi at 390˚F for 10 minutes, then shake the basket and continue to cook for 4-8 more minutes. Check for “doneness” at minute 14. I like my fried gnocchi shatteringly crisp, so I do a full 18 minutes, but you do you, boo.

Gnocchi have a tendency to dry out a bit, so feel free to toss them in another 1 tsp – 1 tbsp of olive oil after they’ve finished cooking, and before serving. And if you want to take this air fried gnocchi to the next level, add some grated Parmesan or Pecorino.

Serve these crispy little nuggets alongside your favorite marinara or sauce. I love dipping mine in our homemade pesto without pine nuts.

Served alone, this air fryer gnocchi would be good for 2-3 people. Served alongside your favorite protein and a salad, it would work for 3-4 people depending on appetites and ages.

Pro tips/recipe notes

  • If using frozen gnocchi, do not defrost it before cooking.
  • If you’re using fresh gnocchi, check the cooking progress at 7 minutes instead of 10.
  • To store leftovers, allow the gnocchi to fully cool before storing them in an air-tight container in the fridge for 3-4 days.
  • Reheating leftovers: toss the leftover gnocchi with 1/2-1 tsp of olive oil and air fry at 350˚F for 3 minutes.

  • Cook at 390˚F for 7 minutes (fresh gnocchi) or 10 minutes (shelf-stable or frozen gnocchi).

  • Shake the air fryer basket and cook the gnocchi for an additional 4-8 minutes or until it is at your desired level of crispy.

  • {optional} Return finished gnocchi to the bowl and toss with an additional tbsp of olive oil.

  • Serve with dipping sauces as an appetizer or toss with marinara or pesto as a main dish.

  • 14 minutes gives a great crispy outer texture, but if you like your gnocchi really crispy, increase cooking time to 16-18 minutes.
  • If using frozen gnocchi, do not defrost it before cooking.
  • If you’re using fresh gnocchi, check the cooking progress at 7 minutes instead of 10.
