Tips For Dealing With Stress & Anxiety

Excessive stress and worry about things can negatively impact on your mental and physical health*. This can then cause more problems and stress which can spiral out of control.

How can you deal with stress and worry?

 

Stop Filling Your Brain With Negative Stuff

Think of your brain as a fuel tank. If you keep throwing bad stuff like dirt and water or bleach into your fuel tank pretty soon your motor will not run.

Your brain can work much the same way. Constantly putting negative things into your brain can have detrimental effects.

Consider limiting the amount of bad news you browse or watch. Bad news can be addictive and the news agencies know this. They tend to focus on bad news with shocking headlines to draw in more viewers and generate more hits.

Remember though that for every country that you read about where there is a war there are probably dozens and dozens more where there is peace. For every horrible sensational death, dozens of beautiful babies born. Sure there may be some car crashes but millions of vehicles are using the roads safely every day. But if we only focus on the negative or shocking headlines we can develop a skewed view of the world around us.

Many news reports also contain information that is very slanted or purposefully misleading or false. So, don’t believe everything you read online. Try to balance your negative intake with positive ones or consider eliminating them entirely.
