Macquarie Group Foundation appoints Asia head

The philanthropic arm of Australian financial services giant Macquarie Group has appointed its new Asia head.

Macquarie Group Foundation provides financial, volunteering, and skills-sharing support to hundreds of community organisations globally, predominantly in locations where Macquarie operates, including China, India, Indonesia, and Malaysia in Asia.

Jasmine Chew joins Macquarie Group Foundation, to be based in Singapore, from Asian Venture Philanthropy Network (AVPN), where she worked for five and a half years, most recently as the head of its capital mobilisation team, Eco-Business reported.

Prior to AVPN, Chew worked at City Developments as corporate social responsibility manager. She has also worked at Singapore International Foundation, as head of its good business department, and at shipping firm Maersk, where she managed client accounts.

Established in 1985, Macquarie Group Foundation has invested $300 million (US$213 million) in health, education, welfare, and environment programmes and has recently donated $3.5 million to organisations providing humanitarian aid in war-torn Ukraine, Eco-Business reported.
