Wealth manager and Financial Planner Quilter is donating £25,000 to the DEC Pakistan Floods Appeal.
The donation will be made via its in-house charity, The Quilter Foundation.
Quilter will also match funds raised by employees donating to the appeal and those made online via the foundation’s JustGiving page for up to an additional £20,000.
The Quilter Foundation provides grants to organisations supporting young people in local communities, as well as supporting emergency appeals in the UK and internationally.
The foundation was set up in 2017.
Paul Feeney, CEO of Quilter and chair of the Quilter Foundation, said: “The floods in Pakistan are truly devastating and many of us, myself included, have been deeply saddened by the resulting humanitarian crisis. Around 30 million people have been affected, with more than a million homes destroyed or badly damaged, leaving many homeless and vulnerable.
“It is vital that we support the extraordinary efforts of the charities working tirelessly to provide life-saving aid. I’m therefore pleased that the Quilter Foundation is able to support this urgent appeal from the Disasters Emergency Committee.”
The DEC launched its Pakistan Floods Appeal following devastating floods which have submerged huge areas of land in Pakistan and left six million people in need of urgent help.
The charitable organisation brings together 15 UK aid charities, specializing in humanitarian aid and disaster response.
The DEC charities provide aid either directly or via local partners.
According to Pakistan’s Government, a third of the country is currently underwater. At least 1,100 people have died and 1,500 injured by the floods so far.
The UK Government has pledged to match pound-for-pound up to £5m donated by the public to the DEC’s Pakistan Floods Appeal.
The Quilter Foundation has previously donated £100,000 to the DEC’s Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal, launched earlier this year.
