5 Best Practices in Monitoring IP Address Abuse

Today, it’s super important to keep your online presence private and safe. Whether you want to keep your information secure or see things that are only allowed in certain places, changing your location and IP address can help.

The five ways to do that are as follows:

Monitoring IP Address Abuse

Use a VPN

Through VPN service, you can change your virtual location and redirect your IP address. It works by transferring your data and information through a virtual tunnel where your IP address is untraceable. This way, you appear to be able to browse the internet from wherever the VPN is. VPN servers are spread all around, so you can choose any place to appear in the online world.

Furthermore, reliable VPNs don’t monitor your activity, and therefore your privacy remains secure. Before connecting, it’s a good idea to check your IP address to make sure the VPN works fine.

Use a Proxy Server

A proxy server is an intermediary that stands between your device and the internet. It performs this task by assigning you a new IP address, thus changing your location and making you appear online from a different location.

On the other hand, you should use the proxy server cautiously, as it can expose your information. Select a good proxy service and never use the free ones because they can endanger your privacy.

Unplug Your Modem

One easy way to change your IP address is to unplug your modem. Just take out the power plug and leave it for a few minutes. When you plug it back in, your internet company will give you a new IP address.

But keep in mind that this might not make your internet look like it’s coming from a different place, as VPNs or proxy servers can. Your new IP address will probably still be in the same area.

Use Tor

Tor is like a secret pathway on the internet. It hides your online moves by sending them through many volunteer-run stops called nodes. This way, it’s hard for anyone to find out where you’re really from. Tor helps you go online without leaving a trace and can help you get around online rules, but it might make your internet slower.

Change Network or Ask ISP to Change IP Address

If you can’t change your location or IP address using the other ways, you can try connecting to a different Wi-Fi network. This will give you a new IP address. You can also ask your internet company to provide you with a new one, but they usually change it by themselves.
